Bowling pt. 2

Good night last night, ended up being ten of us there, although our manager who planned the night out the first place didn't turn up... We thought he might have got lost (he's german and only just moved here) But turns out he got a puncture cycling into town! lol Maybe next time..

Had a good laugh and the night was topped off by me getting the highest score out of everyone at bowling! 141!

Think that's a personal best! :-D

Bowling

Off out with my team from work tonight. Only taken us three goes to actually get something sorted!
Tried just going out for a drink a couple of times and it never happened, so we went for booking a bowling alley and it looks like most people are going to turn up, I think!

Haven't been bowling for ages though, so i'll probably be absolutley crap :-| Oh well, should be a laugh and I'm sure at least some of us will end up getting drunk.....

...me included of course :)

Young Enterprise

A few weeks ago, I was talking to some of the previous graduates at work and they mentioned this Young Enterprise thing they took part in last year. Basically, it involved being a business advisor to a particular school running a YE company for a year.

It's done by sixth formers as a voluntary thing, usually a lot of business studies students for obvious reasons. I had the opportunity to do it during my sixth form but didn't for some reason. The company is ran as a 'real' company and they have to try and make a profit using capital gained from share holders etc. Then at the end of the year it's a big national competition with lots of presentations by all the companies and stuff.

Anyway, the point is, I agreed to take part this year as a business advisor, with some of the other's from last year.... In theory it should be a really good experience, getting some experience in how running a business works myself and helping these sixth formers try and do well with their company over the year.

But there lies the problem. I've never had any experience with running a business and I have no idea what is involved!!! These sixth form kid's will probably have more idea than me, and I'm meant to be acting as a consultant to them :-|

Everyone from last year kept saying that it's not a problem because neither did they, but I'm not sure after attending the launch event today. Which no-one apart from me turned up to from my place to start with! I've come home with this huge pack of information which i'm guessing I need to know because apparently i'm meant to chair the first two meetings and explain to these sixth formers how it all works and how to go about setting up their business etc.

I think I need to spend a lot of time reading this information to have any chance at all of not making a total prat of myself at the first meeting!

Must think positive, if I get by the first few weeks the students should be running the business relatively by themselves so it shouldn't be as stressful and hopefully it'll all be worth it in the end if it's successful....

Ouch

Actually, it's not really ouch, suprisingly. I've been to the gym three times this week and amazingly i'm not a crumpled heap of exhaustion! I really need to keep this up, I actually feel a lot more awake and I can definitely feel the effort after just this week!

This is, will I have the motivation to keep it up, judging from past experience... probably not :-|
But I'm gonna try. I was actually intending on just going swimming today, but got to the pool and it was full of millions of kids, so wasn't gonna do much proper swimming in there!

Apart from that not done much this weekend, went out for a few drinks with James last night, that's the second time in the space of about 3 weeks i've seen him, i'll probably not see him again for 6 months again now if the last few years have been anything to go by!

Dentist tomorrow..... :-|

Back online!

Why do Plusnet have to take so long to activate adsl!!!! Not that i'm complaining, they're pretty good really, just annoying having to wait two weeks!

Hmmm... what have I been up to since last post? Quite a lot actually! Moved house obviously, my stuff actually all fitted in ok, to my amazement. It's sooo good living away from home again.

Went to Crasher of course which was class (as expected), although didn't quite make it through til 6. Could barely stand up by about half 4! But I had been out the friday night in Nottingham that weekend as well!

Went up to Sheff this weekend and went out with Alex and Mike, had a good night, although it seemed to be about three hours later than it actually was all night (probably due to the fact we started drinking at 4....)

Apart from getting pissed, not much else, so the usual then...! :)

Oh actually, I lie, I have done something slightly more healthy - slightly more expensive as well though...
Joined a gym/health club place which is pretty cool. Has a nice swimming pool as well as a huge gym and loads of other stuff. £49 a month though.... hopefully that'll make me actually go to the gym and not just lounge around in the pool and jacuzzi etc :)

I'm also currently addicted to watching 24. Someone at work lent me the first series and i've been watching it pretty much constantly when i've had time. It's well good! Wish I watched it before now.
