Graduate Programme

The Graduate Orientation day was pretty good down in bracknell, heard much of it before though of course!

Night before the three of us from Nottingham went into Reading and found this really cool place called The Oracle, which was basically a shopping centre but had loads of bars and restaurants and stuff alongside the canal.

So we had a Pizza Hut and chilled out in a couple of bars there, was good :)
Sadly couldn't drink much cos of the very early start and the fact i'd driven there!

Turns out that the grad programme is much bigger than I realised, it stretches over 18months and includes eight different two day training events all over the country! Should be fun. They're splitting us off into smaller groups and with non of the people from our own site, so should get to meet a load of the graduates properly from the different parts of the company.

Especially if we organise some social events....

Bowling again tonight...

Let's hope I get a score like last time! :-D

Off to Bracknell tomorrow afternoon with a couple of the other grads from work. Another orientation, this time just for graduates.

Staying down there wednesday night and its on thursday all day (would have been a very early start to drive down thursday morning!)

Was hoping to get a few beers in tomorrow night, might as well, I mean, it'd be rude not to :)
Only problem is, the place we're staying in is just like a travel lodge at a motorway services, so there's no pubs around!!! :-(

Cool bar

Went to a cool bar in Beeston last night - something which I never expected to find there!

Got recommended by a friend, and glad he did now! Quite expensive but it was worth every penny. Really nice atmosphere, very very good cocktails, friendly bar staff and last night they had two girls singing and playing acoustic guitar who were really good. Infact their voices were that good that they did better covers of some of the songs than the originals I think!

I'll definitely be going there again.

Oh yeah, the bar's called Republic - just in-case anyone's in Beeston... ;-)

First YE meeting

Well, met my Young Enterprise company today. They certainly seem to be enthusiastic! Have already voted for directors of the company and have met up several times before we met them.

All four of us from Siemens attended the first meeting today and we'll go in pairs probably from now on, so not to bad really, i'm sure i'll survive :)

Be interesting to see what they come up with anyway, with or without my help!

Can't believe how mature they all seem, thought the meeting would be chaos, can't believe they're only first year sixth form!

Knackered!

Good weekend in Manchester, but now I just need sleep!

Went out on the Friday night and eventually found the club we intended to go to, which turned out to be a good cheese night. Found some nice bars as well, which were stupidly cheap for added benefit! :)

My sat nav didn't fail me through the middle of manchester, although had I known how stupidly expensive the car parks are there I would have parked in the outskirts somewhere, but oh well.

Currently having a play with Skype, see what all the hype's about - Skype/hype, it rhymes see, get it?

:-|

Ok, maybe i'm a little bit bored again. Sleep.

Off to Manchester

Just an update on the last post, the guy didn't make it, was looking up for a time apparently but he went downhill again after they operated and they turned off the life support machine last night.... Don't know what to say really, apart from what a waste.

As for other going's on, today, being Friday, i'm off work and going up to Manchester in a bit for Mike's 'housewarming' - Which in real terms means, an excuse to get very pissed and play some poker!

Probably wander round Manchester for a bit this afternoon before I meet him, that is, if my sat nav takes me there and not Devon or something :)

Right anyway, need to sort stuff out, i'll post when I get back no doubt.

Makes you think

I just found out a guy I went to school/sixth form with was run over last night by a drunk lorry driver who rode up the pavement and plowed him down.

He's now in intensive care apparently and if he lives at all he will probably have brain damage.

I didn't know the guy very well, but I did know him all through school and it's just scary to think that things like this actually do happen.

It's like everyone says, the old thing of, you've got to live for today because something like that could happen tomorrow. Seems just like a stupid old saying but it just brings it home when it actually does happen to someone you know for real.
