Chocolate

Had another random trip yesterday, Cadbury World this time!

Claire managed to get the tickets pretty cheap off LastMinute.com so thought we might as well, it's something to do!

It was a good day anyway, reasonably interesting and of course, plenty of free chocolate... one thing in particular was very good. They gave you a pot of this warm runny chocolate which you ate with a spoon, so so wrong, but so so good! :)

And obviously had to buy something from "The World's Biggest Cadbury Shop"! Although, as Mike pointed out, how many other Cadbury shops do you know of...? Hmm.

It's that time of the year again...

Yep, it's that time again, mobile upgrade time! :-)

Actually, it won't be this time next year... as I've now moved to an 18 month contract. And for the second time in as many posts i've gone against my gadget-addict principles! Well... no quite, but the phone i've gone for is almost the complete opposite of my XDA Mini S!

Only took me about a fortnight to decide on a contract, but then only took me literally an hour to decide on which phone!

Apparently, this is currently the slimmest phone in the world! Soooo cool :) I only went for this finally because I realised if I stayed on O2 I could still use my XDA if I wanted to and switch between them and I really wanted a cool thin phone for carrying about. Originally I was going to switch to T-Mobile because their Flext tariff's seemed really good, but then I found a good one on O2 so went for that option instead! £30 a month for 400 anytime minutes and 750 texts, not to bad at all I don't think!

Oh yeah and Mike's gone for the same phone... :-| Why is it we always end up buying the same things!?!? Just hope it's good... although all the reviews are very good etc. Just have to see!

And to make this day even better, found out last night Kosheen have FINALLY announced their new tour and album launch!! :-D :-D I'll be buying the album on the launch day, that's for sure... waited long enough for the bloody thing!

They're not playing many places this time, but luckily they are playing in Nottingham, at the Rescue Rooms on the 6th May. Tickets booked already of course :-)

Apart from that, meant to be going to Loveshack tomorrow night, but I feel absolutely crap, got a cold or something, so not sure :-(

Ah well, my new phone should help cheer me up when it gets here...

Why I'm still going to keep a map in my boot....

Ok, I may like driving and I may be obsessed with anything gadget-like, but traveling yesterday was certainly not fun and I partly blame technology...

I was on a grad course down in Bracknell, which we got down to fine and stayed the night before and the night in-between - Although, the least time spent in Bracknell the better...

Anyway.

When we came to drive back yesterday, however, we had slightly more problem! What with the weather issues, the fact we left at half four and just generally the fact that we were in the vicinity of London.

We initially tried to use Steve's Sat Nav to find the quickest route, which it was absolutely sure was via the M25 - hmmm since when is any route via the M25 going to be quick?

Once we got on the M4 we soon realised this was a very very stupid idea, as all the signs said heavy congestion (judging by the news, I think congestion wasn't quite the word..) for the entire circle of the M25, so we thought we'd try the "shortest" route on the Sat Nav instead, taking us off onto backroads.... And I wasn't joking either when I meant backroads...

The problem with things like Sat Nav's is, if you say shortest route, to that it means the nearest route it can get to "as the crow flies". So it tried to take us down god knows what single lane track roads and country lanes, which of course, due to the weather, were all either blocked with tree's or flooded!

Eventually after some "gentle persuasion" we managed to stop it telling us to "Perform a U-turn" as we'd had to do enough of that ourselves to avoid all the tree-blocked roads which the Sat Nav insisted on trying to keep sending us back down!

Five hours later, via Aylesbury, Milton Keynes and god knows where, we finally got back to Nottingham!

So yeah, I may have been all praise for Sat Nav's previously and I still think it's worth it's weight in gold, most of the time. But just goes to prove you can't always rely on technology! If we'd had a map we might have got back in four hours, maybe...

The problem is, the routing software on them needs to vastly improve. To start with they are not intelligent enough to work out the difference between turning round because you can't / don't want to go one way, and making a genuine mistake. So you end up with the bloody thing trying to take you back the way you've just been for half an hour, until it works out you're not going to give in! They also need to have some way of letting you pick a different route if the one it originally decided on is no good i.e. an accident etc. This is probably available on the ones that you pay a subscription for to get traffic updates, but I can't see why it couldn't be a feature of all of them. There's always more than one way to get somewhere!

Perhaps they should start selling Sat Nav's with a free Atlas thrown in...

Don't forget the Pool, Mike...

I'm not going to bother writing much about this weekend since Mike wrote a (extremely) long post, pretty much covering it... But I felt I had to respond to anyway.... :-)

Four of us (me, Mike, Claire and Surovy) went bowling last night... and as Mike put it, I appeared to completely lose the ability to bowl! I think I actually must have broken some kind of record, I managed to get the measly score of 76, yet, I bowled four strikes in the same game!? Hmmm.... That's probably because after every strike I got one pin down (or less) on the next bowl. Doh!

Anyway, Mike did, however, neglect to mention that we went to play pool afterwards - well after a very nice pizza at Pizza Express first... And Surovy and I beat him and Claire, seven games to nil! Sorry Mike... ;-)

So that helped the embarrassment of the bowling a little at least!

That's all I had to say anyway. Couldn't resist.

Oh yeah, another grad course for work next week, so down in Bracknell again for a couple of days (joy!), the course being Business Writing Basics... oh god, even thinking about it's making me want to fall asleep! Ah well, out the office for a couple of days, can't complain I suppose!

More later...

Happy New Year (and a very late Merry Christmas!)

Well, as i've not posted on here for nearly a month now, it's a bit late for a Christmas / New Year post, but still, hope everyone had a good one anyway!

Not sure why I haven't posted really, was pretty busy and a lot of stuff happening over and around Christmas, but that's no excuse I know!

Christmas was pretty much normal though, was fun on Christmas day, seemed to play on my XBox most of it with Jamie, Andy and Sean! Got various bits and bobs for Christmas, although I was pleased with the series 1-3 of 24, which will definitely keep me from being bored for a while! Also got a chocolate fountain which was quite random, but good to have a go with on new years eve... more to follow...

As I probably mentioned previously we planned a party for new year (basically because we couldn't think of anything else to do... again) but it actually happened and there was a decent amount of us for once! Seven people - Mike, Claire, Surovy, Krish, Alex, James and Me! To be fair you'd struggle to fit any more in here, especially when it comes to floor space for sleeping!

Was a very good night though, so good it was in danger of not actually ending! There was excessive amounts of alcohol involved of course... i won't even mention James and the rum... we even managed to make Jenga into a drinking game, which Surovy was very good at (if you enjoy drinking that is!) - she managed to drink about half the bottle of Apple Sourz we had allocated for people who knocked over the tower.... even though she liked to keep reminding us with her new catchphrase that "I'm not allowed!" ;-)

It was also a very good job no neighbours were in - well im assuming they weren't, either that or they had all passed out! Because the music and general volume level started to go up from about 3:30 onwards til about 5:30 (yes, 5:30) when i think we would probably have all lost our voices from singing (shouting?) so loudly, so it finally ended!

That's how parties should be! Even the legendary party from the second year at uni (if i do say so myself... ) had ended before we even got properly started! Granted that was cos everyone was probably either unconscience or throwing up somewhere!

Oh yeah, back to James and the rum... sorry James ;-) He apparently drank rather a lot and ended up with drinking half a bottle of dark rum - possibly more. The next day, well the same day should I say, but you know what I mean... he didn't move, at all. I mean literally. He had his piece of floor and never moved once all day, infact he didn't move til the next morning! He was meant to get a train back with Alex New Year's day evening, but physically couldn't get up lol.

At least it wasn't a birthday, so he can't blame (and take revenge on) anyone other than himself this time! :)

So yeah, that was new year! Been back at work three days now and can't be arsed already, oh well only 361 days left til next new year!

I will attempt to follow with some photo's too... yes mike had his camera out and of course Alex had a fair few classics in there as always, so keep an eye out on gallery soon...

Just The Tonic

Just a quick one about this weekend... did absolutely bugger all during the days, but that's not really a surprise is it! Although went into town on Friday - the first of my Fridays off :-D Managed a bit of wandering around, didn't really achieve much actual shopping though. Hmm...

Saturday night met Dan, who unbelievably, I haven't seen in almost a year now! So was good to catch up! Night was for Andy's 21st, so although I left reasonably early (need to save money you know!) I'm hoping i helped contribute to him getting completely battered ;-) Oh yeah mustn't forget, Jude was there with Dan too - she'd never forgive me if she didn't get a mention... :-) So, yeah, good to see everyone and hopefully have to come up to Birmingham and visit in the new year Dan!

Sunday night me, Claire and Mike went to a Just The Tonic comedy night at The Approach, which was cool. I'm glad I checked their website again, because last I knew they'd stopped running the night because they had nowhere to do it since Cabaret closed! They had three comedians on and I have to say the headliner (Matt something or other, need to find out his surname) was absolutely class. Really really funny.

So I reckon they'll be a few more trips there from now on - apparently it runs on the first Sunday of every month, if anyone else fancies joining us! £7.50 entrance fee so not to bad really, unless you're a student (or still have a card...) and it's even cheaper (bastards!)

The Killers @ Rock City (3 of 3)

Well that's it, the gig marathon is over! Three in two weeks and they were all very very good! Infact, every one I went to was better than the last!

Before I start going on about how amazing The Killers were last night, i'll just apologise and say i'm not trying to rub it in Mike...but, they were sooooo good :-P

I didn't think anything would top that Muse gig last week, but this certainly did. I suppose it helps that I know the Killers songs best of anyone i've seen and they work so well live. When they played Mr Brightside I thought the balcony was going to be brought down by the amount of people jumping!

They did pretty much all the best ones off both albums - although saying that they're all as good as each other on Hot Fuss, so missing any songs from that was a shame, but they couldn't do everything!

I completely forgot they hadn't done All These Things That I've Done, until they went off for the (first) time and the entire crowd started chanting "I've got soul, but i'm not a soldier" :-)

Came back, did a couple of others and that, then went off and came back for a second encore and ended it with the Exitlude off Sam's Town

Anyway, could go on about it all day, but lets just say it was good! Photo's on gallery...

No more gigs now for a while unfortunately, although possibly going to see Faithless at the arena in march if we can get tickets!

So for now, back to the boredom :( Guess I'd better stop spending all my money on seeing bands and start some Christmas shopping now.... 4 Weeks to go!

Casino Royale

Went to see Casino Royale last night, as expected it was stupidly busy though so couldn't get in the showing we wanted and ended up going for a pint - I know terrible sacrifice, but what else could we do! :)

I'm still don't think i've really decided if I liked it or not. It was a good film, but i don't think it really felt like James Bond.. I liked the way it explained a lot of the things about how he turns out and all the little character traits etc. That was quite cool, but I think it was just a bit too serious for bond. It was very dark and personally I missed the tongue-in-cheek one liners and stuff that make bond films, there was some, but very little of that. And of course the gadgets! - Ok maybe Die Another Day over did that a lot, but this went to the other extreme.

And as Mike said.... It's just a crime against humanity to destroy that Aston DBS without even barely using it!

Wow, that was actually a really good weekend, wasn't bored for once! Although don't think I could afford to do all that every week unfortunately!

Muse @ Nottingham Arena (2 of 3)

All I will say is The Killers will need to be pretty impressive to beat that! Muse put on a well good show, really really cool. I actually forgot how many good songs they have had as well! They are known for being good live and I'd definitely agree and recommend other people seeing them!

I wasn't a fan of the support act, but i wasn't going to see them, so not really bothered. They were some band called the Noisettes, very very heavy with a female vocalist (who was slightly mental!), but apart from maybe a couple of songs they all sounded the same to me, with her screaming into the microphone.

I actually have some pictures from this one, courtesy of Jim who was there as well and he was standing with his camera - a lot closer than we were. See them on gallery! And hopefully you're seeing the video above (Looks like it only works in Internet Explorer i'm afraid...), that came out amazingly well, the sound is even quite good!

The Feeling @ Rock City (1 of 3)

Last night was The Feeling at Rock City, was going to just post after I'd finished this "gig marathon" over the next two weeks, but what the hell, i'll post after each one!

I'm off work today anyway, no particular reason but just trying to use up holiday and since i'm doing two gigs in two nights thought I might as well to recover.

Anyway, The Feeling. Was a really really good gig, infact they were even better than I expected - and I was expecting it to be good, ask anyone how many times i've listened to the album ;-)
They did all the album stuff (well most of it) and a song off the new album as well, which sounded good. Also did a cover of Video Killed The Radio Star, which was quite cool!

Ended on Love It When You Call, my favourite song off the album, so it was all good :)

Oh yeah, the support band were good too! Called Captain, I'd actually heard of them :-O I think they've been on Jo Whiley's show on Radio 1 and I definitely knew a couple of their singles.

Me and Surovy last night, tonight it's me, Claire and Mike seeing Muse... report tomorrow no doubt!

(P.S - No photo's again, I did attempt to use my phone camera, but it wouldn't even take one as it reckons it has no memory left - god knows what its actually being used up on! Not that it would have been more than a bright blur if I had got one... I'll take my proper camera to the Killers, not much point at Muse we'll be too far away!)

New year suggestions please!

Ok, for yet another year I have absolutley no idea what i'm doing for new year! My parents are off to New York on the 27th December for like a week... not fair! Jealous, but we'll be off there next year anyway... definitely.... ok, hopefully!

But that still leaves the problem of new year. As usual it will probably be a let down! For like the last three years I think, we've just played poker and thats about it, usually lacking in numbers too! Shocking really. But it's just thinking of something to do! I'd love to go back to Scotland because it's always good up there, or even abroad possibly, but as usual we've left it to late really for any of that. It's just stupidly expensive to try and arrange anything like that now.

So, it's looking like it could well end up being a party here or something with probably four or five of us at the most at this rate :(

Pleeeease let me know if anyone has any suggestions for things to do - or offers/invites! :-)

A quick post about the weekend (honest!)

Haven't posted for a while so thought i'd write a quick one... well it'll probably turn into quite a long one actually!

Had quite a busy weekend this weekend for a change! Friday night was some drinks in Fat Cat's - which played some really good music btw, i'd like to know who the DJ was... And of course after that ended up at good old Loveshack :) Didn't drink too much though, I think I made up for that last week when I somehow managed to get through half a bottle of Southern Comfort last sat night! That was while playing drunken Jenga and Cheat, random I know, but fun!

And to make the night even more surreal, me and Claire ended up listening to Phil Collins Greatest Hits at four in the morning and deciding we actually quite liked it lol. The scary thing is, I think we've started some sort of bizarre tradition... guess what got put on when we got back from Loveshack this Friday! No comment about me actually having the CD in the first place.... There's some classics on there you know!!!

No Phil Collins on saturday night, but we did play more Jenga! Wasn't quite as tense this time though... probably because we hadn't drunk obscene amounts of alcohol... Good job really, because I was also setting off "fireworks" on saturday night. I say "fireworks" in quotes because it would probably have been more exciting to light a box of matches, it's just not the same after last year's party at my parents, they were proper fireworks! And we may just be having more of those bonfire parties in Southwell if my parents get the land they want, but that's a story for another post I think!

I did attempt to light several of the fireworks at once to try and make it the least bit interesting, but ended up attempting to use a candle to do it because the taper wouldn't light them quickly enough and pouring candle wax all over my hand! Ouch. It's all good fun though! lol. I still can't believe they trusted me with explosives in the first place... granted they could barely be classified as explosives, but still! :)

Anyway, Sunday wasn't quite as interesting, but did go out for a nice meal for my dad's birthday in Newark. Drove Jamie and Sarah back up to Sheffield in the evening too, got a good view of all the fireworks going off in Sheffield from the M1!

That little trip, plus everything else totted up to over 150 miles driving this weekend too, mental! Didn't even seem that much, but it certainly adds up!

Right, ok, that wasn't a short post was it. Like I said. Could do with some pictures to break it up, sadly didn't get any again though, really need to take more! Must remember!

Um... what else... christmas soon!

Love Clarkson, Hate Caravans

I just found this really funny, seems they were being given out at some caravan and camping show.

Why!? I don't reckon there's much not covered in Mike's post and as usual we'd end up writing the same stuff (just depends who gets there first! lol). And since Mike has well... um... how do I put this, some time on his hands during his working day... ;-)

Late Night Poker

It's currently early Sunday afternoon, but it feels more like about 11 o'clock sunday night! Had an all night poker session at Neil's last night and we ended up playing from about 8:30 in the evening until about 5:30am again! Still talked about the same old rubbish and made the same old jokes... Neil, Gaz... ;-) Nothing changes!

Although at least this time we didn't have to go into uni for lectures the next day! Hmm.. actually, i'd put up with that if it meant being back at uni to be honest!

Wasn't quite getting light this time, but the birds were definitely singing when we went to bed... The reason i'm absolutley knackered now though, is because we got up about nineish because Neil was off to play football this morning - yep, rather him than me!

We played two full games right through to winner takes all, didn't win either this time sadly (bad luck of course!), but only spent a tenner for nine hours of entertainment so can't complain really!

I'm not too bothered about being knackered now though, because i'm off mon, tues and weds this week :-D And we're off to Alton Towers on wednesday - about time! Almost didn't make it this year! No doubt more to follow after wednesday...

Another electronic gadget!

Couldn't resist, i've bought another electronic gadget to add to the collection!

Been wanting a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) for ages, because when there is anything on TV (very rarely I know!) it always seems to all be on at the same time! Problem is every one I found seemed to either have absolutley rubbish reviews or not do what I wanted. Finally found this one by Humax though, partly from recommendation and partly because of its price and reviews!

Still quite expensive but it's going to be completely worth it, it's so useful - ok ok, very cool too :) to be able to pause live TV! It's got 160 gig hard drive too, so i think i'll be recording every single Top Gear for one... Which apparently has started filming again by the way! - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/5409608.stm :-D

Can transfer stuff to the PC as well, so i'll be able to keep stuff if the hard drive (ever) gets full! Because it has two tuners you can do all the stuff like picture-in-picture etc too. Still got a bit more playing to do with it yet.

I really have too many electronic "toys" :-)

What else have I been up to... not much really! Off to Sheffield/Chesterfield next week for what will probably turn out to be another epic poker night with Gaz and Neil, if the final year at uni was anything to go by!

Went to Media last night, which has just re-opened and is now owned by Gatecrasher :-D Although last night wasn't quite Crasher... more the usual kind of student cheese night, but it's all good, just not Love Shack though, nothing ever can be! And for some reason it was dead! I think they really need to promote it more... most people probably think it's still closed... Crasher's on in a few weeks... must go, must go, must go...

Stressful week

Right, I won't say much about this because its probably best I don't. But I think it's ok talking about it now it's over.

Basically we got told on monday that there was a chance of being made redundant at work, quite a few people and that they were going to make the decision on the people to go by today and announce it. So it's not been the best week ever and todays been the worst!

But thankfully i'm ok! Escaped it this time and I still have a job so it's all good. Bloody IT industry, there's just no job security generally, but i'll have to get used to it I guess!

Feel sorry for the ones who went, its a very harsh way to lose your job, especially at such short notice :(

I need a drink......

The Killers (continued)

Annoyingly, Mike didn't get any tickets... and neither did Stu... or most people it seems! Apparently all venues had sold out by like 9:30 this morning (half hour after lines opened).

Rock City being one of the smallest made it even worse! Why didn't they play the arena, why god why! lol

Oh yeah, by half nine there were also pairs of tickets going on ebay for over £300... yes three hundred pound... mental!

I might flog my four and go on that trek america holiday with the earnings... ;-)

The Killers and more..

Woohoo! Just got tickets to see The Killers at Rock City on 25th of November. I didn't post anything in advance about it because I didn't want to promote it too much ;-) Had enough trouble as it was, took 15 minutes of refreshing various websites and couldn't get through on the phone at all!

Fingers crossed for Mike, he's still trying and he needs two more tickets for him and Joanne! I got the maximum of four, for me, Claire, Surovy and her friend.

Can't believe they're playing Rock City, they could easily have filled Nottingham Arena! Gonna be soooo good though.

I probably haven't mentioned before on here either that I'm going to have a mental couple of weeks around that time in November... not only am I seeing The Killers now, but the week before that I'm seeing The Feeling at Rock City again on the 16th and Muse at the arena on the 17th!!!!!

I'm about doubling my total gig count in two weeks lol.

Mike's still trying.... :-| This isn't good.... I must have been very lucky, but he needs to get some too! I'm just worried they're gonna be sold out soon.

This weekend...

Well, since a certain person didn't turn up this weekend... not mentioning any names, I wasn't expecting it to be very exciting, but it wasn't too bad actually!

Had a good night at Loveshack on fri - it's starting to get like the days before uni at the moment, the amount we're going there again! It's all good though, you know it's always going to be class. Went in Saltwater too, a really really nice bar in the Cornerhouse that I can't believe we hadn't been in before! Got a cool roof terrace with its own bar and everything, getting a bit chilly for it though, shame we didn't go in in the summer!

Mike went to Manchester yesterday and I randomly went for a game of pitch & putt in Derby with Jim! lol. Never done it before, the nearest i've got is crazy golf... oh and a go on the driving range at Center Parcs (which didn't go well)... it was fun, but i've decided golf definitely isn't my game!

Today, been pretty bored, but not too bothered, I can live with one day! Did play badminton with Surovy at least so that was good.

I only seem to be posting at weekends at the moment! Probably because my weeks are that repetitive and boring there's nothing even worth putting on here about! I'll try and post more often, but it probably won't happen...

Random days out... part 2!

No, not sherwood forest this time... although close... we headed back that way to Thoresby Park, where they had a giant maze made from maize!

Right, before I go any further, I will say, i'm not even going to start with the cheesy puns, because I think Mike's managed to use every one possible anyway... ;-)

(See I even managed not to say corny... )

There's meant to be loads of these maze's all round the country ( infact, the world apparently!), so we reckon we should challenge ourselves to visit every one! That's some challenge, since they spread as far as South Africa, America, you name it....!!!

Was very random, but a good day again! Even better than sherwood forest possibly! lol. Surovy had to get her 'souvenier' of course... Well, part of the maze itself really... As modelled by her and Claire above! Apologies for the shocking quality picture again, this time it was my rubbish phone camera to blame...

Mike managed to hobble around the maze, which is quite impressive really, since we spent over an hour and a half in there... we weren't lost, just wanted to see it all, honest!

Infact, I just realised I hadn't posted about Mike's knee again yet, so i'll explain the reason he was hobbling! Yep, you guessed it... badminton ended in tears (well nearly) again last weekend. Same thing again with his knee. Not good. Besides it being extremely painful at the time, no doubt, more than anything because now he's even more bored all the time and thus so am I! lol

We're just not meant to play badminton! And I'm getting a reputation for injuring people now... Stu did something to his elbow as well when I was playing him next...

It's just a coincidence!!!! :-|

Anyway, so, hopefully they'll be a part three to this post as well, because we still need to fit in a trip to the seaside before the end of the summer! Didn't think that was the best idea on a bank holiday monday that was all...

Oh yeah, had an awesome night at Loveshack on fri too. We actually went to some different bars too! Shock, horror! Place called the The Fat Cat which is really nice and the new Revolution in the Corner House. Mike couldn't come out though which was annoying because he might have had trouble in Loveshack on his knee... no comments please about me not being able to stand up even with both legs in tact...

Sherwood Forest

Had a bit of a random day out yesterday, decided we would go to Sherwood Forest! Me, Mike, Alison, Claire and Surovy. Photo at the Major Oak to prove it... :)

Was actually a really good day, took some food and stuff and had a wander round the good old sherwood forest visitor centre. Not been there in like 10 years! Made a nice change from getting drunk for once! - Although we did go to the pub when we got back... I still didn't drink though cos I was driving!

The rain even held off! Although only just, got back and it absolutley slung it down all night!

And I resisted the temptation to buy a bow and arrow from the gift shop, they're great! Used to have so many of them when I was younger! Although Surovy had to buy her "piece of wood" fridge magnet, which was very authentic, honest ;-)

Twelve Stops And Home

I know I keep saying, but The Feeling's album is so good! It's definitely now one of my favourites this year and I would recommend getting it if you haven't already!

It has to be good because it's now passed the boredom test, as in, i've played it about 30 times and i'm still not bored of it at all :)

As for best song on there, it has to be Love It When You Call. Class!

Loveshack is dead... or is it?

Ended up having a great night on friday at Loveshack, not sure if it was the amount of alcohol we had consumed but it certainly seemed good :) Sadly it's not Loveshack as we knew it, not so many of those 80's cheese classics, but i'm sure we can live with it!

Was a good weekend all round actually, played some pool on saturday night - after we'd eventually recovered from the hangovers... well, I lost some pool anyway :- But I came back on Sunday and kicked Alex's ass at badminton to make up for it!

Sadly, sunday night I felt a bit crap, something I ate maybe, although not sure what! Couldn't sleep all night so ended up calling in sick the next day :( Better now though!

So that very expensive week ended with a very expensive weekend too! I blame Alex for making me drink so much... ;-)

Expensive week!

It was very nice getting my car last year and having everything paid for a year, tax, MOT, service etc. But that's now meant that's it's all up at once a year later!!

Took it to Toyota today for the service and MOT, £160 (ouch), but it could have been worse and i'd much prefer to take a car that age to somewhere like that rather than some dodgy backstreet garage! Got an Aygo as the hire car too. The most basic car ever! But suprisingly quick actually - probably cos it's all made of plastic!

Next it's the road tax, another 150 quid!!! Like I said, expensive week...

Oh yeah, we got another 'entertaining' bill today, from the water company this time. Apparently, we are using an average of 2200 litres of water a day! Bearing mind the national average for a whole family is about 150 litres a day! Hmmmmm. I think somebody in one of the other apartments is syphoning off our water to fill their olympic sized swimming pool or perhaps we're helping to top up the local reservoir!?

Why can't utility companies ever get bills right???
